W elcome to the latest, brand new regular feature on this blog called OPEN HOUSE.   For the last few weeks, I've been participating in a number of LINKY PARTIES around the web.

AROUND TOWN October Fun

T he blogging world is truly a DIYer's dream.  It's filled with such wonderful ideas, projects and never-ending inspiration.  That seemingly endless abundance of creativity is at the heart of my new regular blog column, called AROUND TOWN.

I've kicked off this first installment of AROUND TOWN  with two of my own favorite projects from my blog this month. 

Throughout the rest of this post, allow me to share a handful of other great looking projects and ideas crafted by fellow bloggers who love the season as much as I do.

THE FRIDAY FOODIE Caramel Apple Tarte Tatin

No doubt you've heard "an apple a day, keeps the doctor away".  Well, no one ever said you always have to eat them raw, right?

While I don't advise you eat this dish of apples every day, when it comes to tasty desserts, this may very well be just what the doctor ordered.

D rive through any neighborhood this time of year and you'll likely see the signs of the Autumn season written all over assorted front doors.

I love Fall, front door decor with it's colorful, vibrant mix of browns, reds and various orange hues.

CREATING A VELVET HARVEST Part 2 Soft Pumpkins

 

T ypically when your Fall pumpkins turn soft, it's time to toss them.  Well, that's certainly not the case with these pumpkins.

They almost look like they were plucked right from a pumpkin patch and this is one harvest you definitely won't want to throw away at the end of the season.

I f you're in the mood for an easy, delicious dessert that takes mere minutes to prepare for the oven, then this recipe is for you.

I'm not sure there is any pie (other than pumpkin) that screams the Fall season quite like Pecan Pie.

CREATING A VELVET HARVEST PART 1 Amazing Acorns

C an you believe it's October?  This is actually my favorite time of year thanks to much cooler, crisp temps and all the Fall color that pops up in nature, home decorating and elsewhere.

If you're looking for a new Autumn project that you can whip up in no time, consider these soft acorns which will add a touch of color and whimsy to any seasonal decor.

They almost look like the real thing, don't they?
